Глава 28

Thinking of Xu Ziqing, Shijiu felt as if she had been stabbed hard in the heart with an awl.

No matter how handsome a man she met, or how skilled a martial arts master she encountered, Shijiu sadly discovered that she still couldn't let him go.

He should be sleeping soundly and happily with his beautiful wife in his arms right now.

I wonder if, after she left, he ever thought even a fraction of how good she was to him.

Her eyelids grew heavy again, and Nineteen sighed, suddenly feeling disheartened, thinking that she couldn't just fall asleep like this. Just as she was drifting off to sleep, she suddenly felt something furry touching her, and her sleepiness instantly vanished. Nineteen's eyes widened instantly, and she was staring at a pair of bright green fireflies.

A small wolf sniffed at her body. When it saw that she had woken up, it took a step back, revealing its white teeth.

Gu Yan and Xu Ziqing were completely forgotten. Nineteen was drenched in cold sweat, her muscles tense, silently praying. "Amitabha, Jade Emperor, I'm not edible..."

However, the wolf seemed quite interested in her, its green eyes meeting hers, and it refused to leave.

Nineteen leaned against the tree and slowly stood up. His hands were tied behind his back and he couldn't move. He didn't have time to curse Tian Shu for being a pervert. He was only thinking about how to escape.

She had once heard her master say that wolves are very good at understanding people's hearts. Once they find that you are afraid of them, they will pounce on you without hesitation!

She sized up the wolf.

The wolf also sized her up.

An owl swooped through the woods, and a wolf bared its white teeth, pouncing on Nineteen! Nineteen slightly turned to the side, then kicked out, striking the wolf hard in the waist! The wolf had a soft waist, and immediately let out a whine, rolling to the side, glaring hatefully at Nineteen before slowly running away.

She breathed a sigh of relief, but lost her footing and fell heavily to the ground.

Cloud Talk...

Where is Yuntan located?

A long, drawn-out howl came from afar, and Nineteen felt a chill run down her spine. She knew clearly that this was a signal to call for her companions! The sky was high, the earth was vast, and she was about to die here.

Cloud talk... Cloud talk... Cloud talk...

In her despair, the person she thought of was actually that good-for-nothing Shen Yuntan.

Nineteen helplessly realized that he had become so engrossed in his role as a bodyguard that he was constantly thinking about what would happen to that useless spittoon if he were gone.

The wind grew stronger, and the hoarse hooting of the owl stung her eardrums. She lay curled up among the fallen leaves, hungry and cold. That slight movement had reopened her wounds, causing her excruciating pain. She longed to cry, longed to return to Xiaoyao Manor.

I also really, really miss the clean and pleasant scent of that useless old man, and his warm embrace.

Chapter Eighteen: Old Friends

Shen Yun, carrying the nineteen-year-old broadsword, his face grim and murderous, jogged up the mountain. However, the mountain path was rugged, winding left and right through the forest, inevitably leading him down many detours. He remembered the woman in purple; Jinhu Manor had four notorious scourges: black, red, purple, and yellow.

Wu Yuan is lustful, Zhu Que is cruel, Zi Nu is jealous, and Huang Yin is greedy.

In short, none of the four are good birds.

Several years ago, Zhuque was besieged by several righteous martial arts practitioners, who blinded him in one eye and damaged his collarbone, rendering him practically a cripple.

Three months ago, Huang Yin was personally beheaded by him on the shore of West Lake.

Of the four notorious villains, only two remained. Shen Yun was absolutely certain that the woman in purple was Zi Nu. Of the four, Zi Nu was the youngest, having only been in the martial world for a year, yet her ruthlessness far surpassed that of her predecessors. She especially enjoyed torturing beautiful women, deriving immense pleasure from listening to their painful cries.

Shen Yuntan's hand tightened. Just as Tianxiu had said, Jinhu Manor was a complex and chaotic place, beyond the complete control of the Sang Clan. However, he had no choice but to investigate, no choice but to find out something, something of great importance concerning himself.

Did his master die or not?

In recent years, Jinhu Manor's modus operandi has changed drastically. What was originally just a small manor known for its intelligence gathering in the martial arts world has grown immensely in just a few years. They've recruited a group of loyal martial arts assassins, villains, and enchantresses from who-knows-where, all of whom are wholeheartedly devoted to them. Their influence continues to expand, showing a clear intention to move north and south. While Shen Yuntan has little interest in these martial arts forces, Jinhu Manor's methods are all too familiar.

Eliminating the flower thief was just a pretext; finding out whether their master was alive or dead was the real purpose.

The master died at the hands of his disciple, a man of such cunning and treacherous nature, leaving both Tian Shu and Tian Xiu deeply alarmed.

Tianxiu understood this purpose better than he did.

However, he was still a member of the Sang Clan, which made it much more inconvenient for him to act than for Shen Yuntan.

For Zi Nu, tonight was absolutely a nightmare.

Not long after she and Wu Yuan left, they saw Nineteen leap out of the window and run away. However, without Tian Shu's order, no one dared to go in and find out what was going on.

Zi Nu squinted her phoenix eyes and said in a soft voice, "Wu Yuan, you should have seen how good that girl was. Why didn't you go after her?"

Wu Yuan's eyes followed Shijiu's departing figure, and he teased, "How can she compare to you? She's just a young girl, her body hasn't even fully grown yet."

Zi Nu brushed a few stray hairs from her ear and smiled charmingly: "You have such a sweet tongue. Since the young master released her, he must have his reasons. Everyone knows that the person we in Wuyuan fear most is the young master."

Wu Yuan was somewhat embarrassed, his face slightly flushed: "Who isn't afraid? Aren't you afraid? Did the young master give you a smaller dose of medicine than we did?"

Mentioning this incident, Zi Nu's smile froze, and her slender hand brushed across her shoulder: "Young Master really doesn't know how to be gentle with women, you kicked me so hard."

How could Wu Yuan resist her seductive charm? He placed a hand on her shoulder and gave her a hard twist: "Don't you like it?"

This added another bruise to her already bruised shoulder. Zi Nu gasped for breath, collapsing into a limp heap: "Dead man..."

What was originally meant as playful banter unexpectedly came true.

No sooner had she finished speaking than a thin red line appeared on Wu Yuan's neck. The line suddenly widened, and thick, scarlet blood sprayed all over her body. Wu Yuan's head was severed from her body; her headless form convulsed before falling forward—right onto her!

A white figure stood not far away, holding Wu Ming's head in one hand and an extremely thin silver thread in the other.

From inside the mountain god temple came Tian Shu's suppressed voice, clearly trying his best to suppress his pain: "She's gone."

Shen Yuntan toyed with Wu Yuan's head, his white robe spotless: "Why did you capture her?"
