I quietly reached out and pressed the small wooden piece on the edge of the bed. I heard a slight sound and felt a surge of pride. Before I could even smile, Dark Night suddenly turned around and bumped me with his elbow, making me stumble.

I turned pale with fright, watching helplessly as I suddenly found myself standing in the same spot where I had been in the darkness. I stared blankly as he drank the entire pot of sleeping pills, forgetting even to count them.
