Kapitel 54

"Then let's have noodles. Fish or meat is fine, I'm not picky. As for where we eat," Yu Zigui smiled slightly and said politely to the innkeeper, "I've been traveling these past few days and I'm a bit tired. Could you please bring me some water? I'd like to wash up first and then eat in my room."

Thinking that this woman was easy to serve, he agreed, and then heard the host say, "Send my share to her later."

You said you didn't need it anymore.

The shopkeeper was surprised at first, but quickly understood.

When people are well-fed and clothed, they think of other things; the ancients were right.

Knock knock.

"Please wait a moment." The sound of water flowing, which evoked a sense of longing, came from inside the room.

With a slight smile, Shangguan Yi stood at the door, in a rather pleasant mood. The rustling sound of someone dressing drifted into his ears, making his mind wander. Unfortunately, someone was oblivious to his charm, opening the door so quickly that it somewhat spoiled the mood.

The rosy glow after her bath added to her allure, and even her moon-shaped eyes couldn't hide their captivating charm. Anyone who saw her beauty would not mistake her for a woman from the Yu family.

No, not anyone.

He was both angry and resentful. Before she could speak, he went inside and closed the door.

"Ziyu?"

"You are not allowed to see other people like this in the future."

His tone was somewhat harsh, which left her puzzled.

"Is that so?" She looked at herself in confusion.

"After taking a bath." His expression was somewhat strange, as if he was suppressing something.

"Why?"

Her clothes were neat and there was nothing wrong with them.

“Because,” Shangguan Yi said in a low, husky voice, darting forward like a snake, his eyes fixed on her rosy lips, “because it makes one want to devour her.”

She covered her mouth, her eyes wide.

His handsome eyes slowly moved upwards, his gaze unreadable as he looked at her. "So don't meet other people like this."

He actually scared her! But she angrily took a step back. "If it were anyone else, I would have already chopped them down with one palm."

"Oh?" Shangguan Yi's face lit up with joy. "Then why not chop me up?"

He seized the opportunity to hold her small hand, then pressed it against his chest. "Why?"

Seeing her stunned silence, he coaxed, "Just a little more force, a gentle tap here, and I won't be able to take liberties with you. Zigui, do you want to try?" He slowly leaned down, getting closer and closer to her red lips. "Or are you just too heartbroken to bear seeing me cough up blood, hmm?"

He gently pressed his lips to hers, letting out a soft sigh. "Silly girl, you've already fallen in love with me, you just haven't realized it yet."

His murmured words were hazy and sentimental. Just as he was about to take it a step further, he was actually cleaved in two by a single palm strike.

The force was perfectly controlled; his chest felt numb but he felt no pain.

"You clearly agreed not to influence my thoughts, but you still did it."

Her bright, angry eyes were captivating, and her radiant beauty was so alluring that he could hardly contain his excitement.

"Ziyu, I do have some feelings for you, but not to the extent you described."

What is it?

Her face flushed red, and she glared at him fiercely.

He was teasing her on purpose, because he adored her pretty face.

This girl is shrewd in everything, and her ability to endure is unparalleled. Yet, she is as innocent as a blank sheet of paper when it comes to matters of love, which makes him unable to resist the urge to pursue her.

Two years ago, she demanded fairness, and he granted it; she was slow-paced, no problem, he waited; she was clueless about romance, just what she wanted, he taught her. He would give her anything, except for letting her forget him.

One letter a month—he didn't ask for much; it was far too little compared to what he wanted.

"Zigui, you're so slow," he said, his dark eyes filled with resentment.

She was puzzled at first, but then it dawned on her. "My sixth senior brother said something similar."

"Sixth Senior Brother?"

Unaware of the displeasure in his eyes, she continued to recall. "Well, my sixth senior brother said I learn everything quickly, but when it comes to things related to myself, I become incredibly slow, even more frustrating than a snail. I entered the sect at the age of eight. Ziyu, guess how old I was when they discovered I was a girl?"

She gathered her long hair and loosely tied it into a bun, her every move exuding charm.

If it were him, he would have seen through her identity at first glance, then kept her by his side, making her completely devoted to him. But it wasn't him, and thinking of this, he felt very annoyed and resentful.

"It certainly won't take more than two months," he said.

To everyone's surprise, her eyes sparkled with smugness. "Fourteen."

He was unusually surprised.

“When I was fourteen, my sect finally found out I was a girl. You must be wondering why, and I’d like to know too.” She was also puzzled, then smiled and said, “Until I left home, my tenth senior brother said that it wasn’t that they hadn’t noticed, but that I hadn’t noticed myself. Actually, they realized it much earlier than I did, didn’t they? At least they knew when I was fourteen, while I only started to understand two years ago.”

“Ziyu, look at me, I’m just a slow person.” She looked at him, a hint of playfulness in her eyes. “If you’re impatient, you can just leave me behind and go on your own.”

Throw it away, but how do you throw it away?

He glared at her resentfully, which made her feel a little guilty, and she then took his hand. "If Ziyu can't bear it, then I'll trouble you to wait a little longer."
