PaiPai-Romane - Kapitel 84

Kapitel 84

Soon someone led a horse to the door, and Chu Zhen mounted it.

Le Yan looked around for a while, then suddenly called out, "Uncle Zhen, take me with you."

Chu Zhen hesitated for a moment, then said, "Alright." He turned to look at the soldiers gathered around him and shouted, "You two are sharing one horse, so make way for..."

Before he could even utter the words "give it to Leyan," a red shadow flashed before his eyes.

But she had already leaped onto his horse.

Chu Zhen's body stiffened.

Although she was the daughter of an old friend, and in his eyes she was just a little girl who needed to be pampered, she was still a woman after all.

For many years, he had never been so intimate with any woman.

Her body pressed against mine from behind.

A sweet fragrance immediately enveloped him.

Chu Zhen was stunned for a moment.

Tang Leyan reached out, wrapping one arm around his waist and patting his shoulder with the other: "Why bother with all this trouble? Uncle Zhen... let's go!"

Chu Zhen then came to her senses.

Fortunately, she always dressed as a man, and few people recognized that Guard Yue was a girl.

Moreover, the situation is urgent now.

He acts with integrity and uprightness, so what is there to fear?

Chu Zhen felt slightly calmer.

"Alright, let's go!" With a flick of his arm, he spurred his horse forward.

A group of attendants followed closely behind.

Le Yan leaned against Chu Zhen's back. Luckily, she reacted quickly.

otherwise……

A smile appeared on her lips as her fingers gently stroked his waist.

Because the horse was moving so fast, he probably didn't feel anything unusual around his waist.

She also withdrew her other hand from his shoulder.

Without realizing it, she had already wrapped her arms around his waist.

Even if Chu Zhen found it strange, he couldn't find any fault with it.

Two people riding on the same horse will inevitably cause many inconveniences.

Moreover, with the emperor's assassination attempt weighing heavily on his mind, he was even more focused.

I could only feel a strange fragrance wafting around my nose, which smelled wonderful.

However, they did not know what kind of fragrance it was.

Leyan gently pressed her face against his back.

She smiled slightly.

When they arrived at the Meridian Gate, Yueyan let go.

Chu Zhen dismounted, followed closely by Le Yan and a group of military officers.

When the man arrived at the Heavenly Gate, he saw an eunuch with a worried expression come out to greet him.

Le Yan frowned slightly. The eunuch trotted forward and whispered, "The Grand Secretary has arrived... The Emperor is currently in the Crimson Dragon Palace."

Chu Zhen agreed. He then asked, "How is His Majesty? Is he injured?"

"This... although the injury is there, the imperial physician said it's not serious." Upon hearing "injured," Chu Zhen's brows furrowed tightly.

He remained silent, his face beaming with joy.

Several people hurriedly and strode to the Crimson Dragon Palace. After being escorted by eunuchs, Chu Zhen entered alone.

After a while, another eunuch came out and said that the emperor wanted to see Leyan.

Leyan entered the room holding a fan, stepped through layers of curtains, and saw the emperor lying on a couch.

Perhaps because he was frightened, his face was somewhat pale, but his eyes were still frighteningly bright.

Her lips also seemed to have lost some color.

Le Yan's heart skipped a beat.

Chu Zhen stood to the side, remaining silent as Le Yan entered.

The emperor did move slightly.

After Le Yan bowed, Chu Zhen said softly, "Le Yan, come here."

Le Yan then stepped forward and followed Chu Zhen's directions to the emperor's bedside.

The emperor gazed at her. Her long eyelashes fluttered, and a smile appeared on her face.

A hand reached out from beneath the bright yellow sleeve, toward her.

Le Yan glanced at Chu Zhen.

Chu Zhen, however, only looked at the emperor.

Le Yan sighed, finally reaching out to grasp that hand, and whispered, "Your Majesty... how are you feeling?"

"It's alright." His voice remained calm, and he suddenly smiled. "It's just that I feel more at ease with you by my side."

Le Yan met his eyes. She couldn't help but feel a pang of sadness, and lowered her head to avoid his gaze: "It is I...I'm sorry, Your Majesty..."

"It is I... I failed to do my best. I should have kept you in the palace back then," the emperor said with a sigh.

“Your Majesty…” Le Yan lowered her head and bit her lip.

She wanted to leave the palace, so she used every means possible; how could she have known that something like this would happen?

She was filled with remorse, while the emperor blamed himself, which only added to her unease.

Chu Zhen spoke up from the side: "Le Yan. Let His Majesty rest well. He is injured in the chest, and the situation is very dangerous. If he hadn't been slightly off-center, the consequences would have been unimaginable."

Le Yan swayed.

His gaze went upwards, landing on Tang Shaoxuan's chest.

Only then did they realize that although his chest had been treated, bloodstains were still visible.

It's obvious that the injury was quite serious.

She reached out her hand towards his chest, but then stopped.

In a moment of intense emotion, filled with both hatred and shame, tears welled up in my eyes.

"Silly child..." the emperor whispered, reaching out to touch her face and gently wiping away her tears.

Leyan no longer avoided the emperor's touch, letting his gentle fingers brush against her skin.

"Don't be sad for me. Everything's alright now, isn't it?" the emperor comforted her softly, then chided Chu Zhen. "Ah Zhen, don't frighten her, look..."

Upon hearing this, Le Yan could no longer hold back. Her knees buckled, and she immediately knelt down on one knee: "Your Majesty, it is my fault for dereliction of duty..." She lowered her head, and tears streamed down her face.

The emperor on his sickbed stirred, seemingly struggling to get up.

Chu Zhen hurriedly came over: "Your Majesty, you can't move, what if you tear open your wound?"

Together with the palace maids and eunuchs beside her, they all rushed forward to dissuade her, immediately blocking Le Yan's view.

Le Yan just lowered her head and didn't dare to speak.

I heard the emperor cough softly twice: "Ah Zhen, you talk to this child for me... it's not his fault..."

Chu Zhen turned to look at Le Yan: "Le Yan, get up quickly."

Le Yan felt a pang of sadness. Upon hearing this, she suddenly stood up, still keeping her head down, and said, "Your Majesty, Your Excellency, I will handle this matter myself. I will be right back."

Without waiting for their reply, he turned around and quickly left the Crimson Dragon Palace.

The emperor glanced at Chu Zhen.

Chu Zhen said in a deep voice, "Your Majesty need not worry. Now focus on healing your injuries. I will keep an eye on Guard Yue."

"Well then, go ahead. I noticed that Leyan doesn't look well, so don't do anything rash. I have plenty of people to serve me, so there shouldn't be any problems."

The emperor gave the order.

Chu Zhen hesitated slightly, but finally agreed, took his leave, and stepped outside. As Le Yan rushed out of the Crimson Dragon Palace, a blue figure was also coming towards her.

The two faced each other, and Le Yan stepped forward: "Where is Xiao Di?"

Chu Gexing noticed that her expression was unusual, and her eyes were red as if she had been crying. He was surprised and lowered his eyes, saying, "I don't know."

"You're the Commander of the Nine Gates, how come you don't know?" Frustrated, she pushed him away and walked forward.

Chu Gexing grabbed her hand casually: "What's wrong with you?"

Le Yan slapped him: "Let go, it's none of your business."

Chu Gexing held on tightly: "You know I'm the Nine Gates Admiral. How can I let you, who is so fierce and irritable, wander around with me?"

"You are the Commander of the Nine Gates, why couldn't you keep an eye on a mere assassin and let the Emperor get injured?" She turned her head and glared at him.

Chu Gexing was taken aback.

Le Yan struggled and said, "Fine, I misunderstood this. It has nothing to do with you. I'm sorry."

He turned his head and slipped away towards the white jade bridge.

Chu Gexing stood there, bewildered, the words "I'm sorry" still ringing in his ears. He thought to himself that this person had so many sides; when he got angry, he was like someone who was about to bite, but in the blink of an eye, he could be calm and even apologize to him...

But seeing how uneasy she was, could it be about the emperor's assassination attempt...?

A thought popped into his head, and he immediately frowned.

While I was lost in thought, I heard a voice behind me: "Ge Xing, where is Yue Yan?"

Chu Gexing turned around and saw that standing quietly on the white jade steps was his uncle, Chu Zhen, the Grand Councilor.
