PaiPai-Romane - Kapitel 101

Kapitel 101

Although the young man was all smiles, when he walked up to the guard, his eyes flashed and he saw the guard's face. The guard felt a cold light flash in those beautiful eyes, which seemed to see right into his heart. A chill ran down his spine, and he froze, unable to speak.

The young man in red made no move and quietly followed the military commander into the house.

Only the guards remained standing there, and it took them a while to come to their senses. They hurriedly turned around to look, only to see that the man in dark blue and the man in red had already gone far away.

The guard felt a chill run down his spine. The boy clearly looked like a noble young master, a well-behaved child with delicate features, but unexpectedly... he exuded a tremendous murderous aura that sent shivers down his spine. Among the factory supervisors, who was a good person? Who didn't have a few blood debts on their hands? They had seen many people, but they had never seen anyone like this boy. It was simply... The guard shuddered and suddenly remembered a phrase: "A harbinger of doom."

Tang Leyan followed Chu Zhen into the factory, looking around the whole way.

This was her first time visiting the factory, so she couldn't help but be curious.

The person leading the way was at the front, and Chu Zhen followed with her hands behind her back. She was at the back and felt that the surroundings were eerily quiet. There was a sentry every three steps and a guard every five steps. The layout was even more strict than that of the Military Affairs Bureau. The people passing by were all in a hurry and did not show their emotions. Few people stopped to greet them.

Considering Chu Zhen's high rank and power, Tang Leyan was secretly surprised that these people were so disrespectful. No wonder Chu Zhen insisted on coming in person when Chu Gexing said he was coming; this place was indeed not to be underestimated.

After walking for an unknown amount of time through winding paths, they finally entered the inner hall. After walking for a while longer, they stepped into the warm pavilion. Through a bamboo curtain that swayed gently in the wind, they heard a familiar voice slowly ringing out from inside: "The presence of His Excellency the Grand Secretary is truly an honor for the Director of the Factory today."

When that voice rang out, Tang Leyan raised an eyebrow.

It feels so familiar.

It sounds familiar; I've heard that sound somewhere before.

As I was thinking silently, someone reached out and lifted the curtain, and a person dressed in a blue robe and wearing a veil came out from behind.

He may look old, but he is very energetic, with bright, sparkling eyes.

He was strange, yet very dignified. His face was pale, as if he had applied powder, and his lips were red, tightly pursed together. Combined with his sharp eyes that seemed to see through people's hearts, he inspired awe.

The blue robe was embroidered with countless patterns in purple and yellow thread, and over the blue robe, a black gauze garment of the same color as the gauze hat was draped.

He stepped out, and upon seeing Chu Zhen, his face was full of smiles, though only a few crow's feet appeared at the corners of his eyes.

"The Grand Eunuch himself came to greet me; how could I possibly be worthy of such a welcome?" Chu Zhen stopped and bowed.

"Your Excellency, what are you saying? We are all serving the Emperor with utmost loyalty, so we are practically family." The man said with a smile, sounding very familiar, and warmly invited, "Come, Your Excellency, please come in."

In a flash, his gaze swept across Tang Leyan's face.

Chu Zhen noticed this and nodded, saying, "Le Yan, is it alright if you wait here?"

Tang Leyan glanced at him and said, "Okay."

But then the factory manager said, "This young man has an extraordinary bearing. May I ask if he is the Grand Secretary?"

Chu Zhen was taken aback, then said, "It's from the headquarters..."

Tang Leyan coughed and said, "He's just the son of an old friend."

As he spoke, he went to look at Chu Zhen.

Chu Zhen glanced at her, her eyes slightly reproachful.

Tang Leyan knew that he didn't really mean to blame her, but he was afraid that he would say something she wouldn't like to hear.

The eunuch chuckled, "Hmm, heroes emerge from among the young." He turned and stepped forward first, while a eunuch lifted the curtain beside him. "Please, gentlemen, enter."

Tang Leyan stood outside the door, sighed softly, crossed her arms, leaned against the wall, and closed her eyes without saying a word.

After a while, there was a slight noise inside the room, and then a figure flashed out, it was Chu Zhen who came out first.

Le Yan went up to her and asked, "How is it? Any news?"

Chu Zhen frowned and sighed slightly: "Let's go back."

“Okay,” Leyan replied.

Someone was leading the way. The two of them slowly walked out the way they had come.

Actually, Leyan had already overheard most of what was happening outside.

However, she naturally couldn't tell Chu Zhen, and the eunuch seemed to be deliberately beating around the bush, only exchanging pleasantries and not revealing anything important. She was very annoyed by what she was eavesdropping on.

The two men exited the factory gate.

Chu Zhen walked towards the sedan chair.

Le Yan naturally followed behind.

Chu Zhen suddenly stopped.

"Let's take a walk."

Le Yan couldn't have been happier: "Okay."

Chu Zhen stepped over the sedan chair railing and instructed, "You all go back to the Military Council first. I will be back shortly."

The group agreed and left.

Chu Zhen and Le Yan walked slowly forward along the long wall with blue tiles of the factory.

He was outside, she was inside.

"Why do you look unhappy?" she asked.

"No... The demonic shadows in Shundu cannot be eradicated in a short time, and I can never truly relax my mind."

"Is it just for this?"

"Well... right now, it's just for this matter."

Le Yan looked down at the clean bluestone pavement.

"What's wrong?" He turned his head. "You don't seem happy either?"

"No," she said softly.

"Is it because I've affected you?" he asked.

"If I said yes, would you... be happy?"

He was taken aback for a moment, then laughed: "Ha..." He looked up at the sky.

“Uncle Zhen.” She reached out and tugged at his sleeve.

"What's wrong?" He looked down at her face.

She stared at him intently for a while before sighing and saying, "Alright, if you're worried, I'll do my best to help you."

"You..." Chu Zhen was slightly taken aback. Then she said, "What are you saying? I won't allow you to say these things. You just stay close to me. Don't think about those things... Hmm. Ge Xing is already making arrangements. With his abilities, he should have clues soon. You can let go..."

"He is him, and I am me." Le Yan smiled slightly. "Don't you believe me?"

"Don't talk nonsense. I'm just afraid you'll cause trouble and hurt yourself." He reached out and touched her head. "Let's go."

He put his hand down and then turned his back to his back.

Leyan reached out and grabbed his hand, holding it in her palm.

Chu Zhen froze, stopped in her tracks, and tried to pull her hand back.

Her hand clenched tightly, her soft palm meeting his, it was warm.

"Why aren't you leaving?" She turned around, her smile suddenly blooming like a flower.

"Hmm..." He lowered his head, slightly hesitant.

“Let’s go,” she said, pulling her hand.

Chu Zhen involuntarily took two steps forward. As she passed by, she thought to herself: How could I be so pathetic as to let a child pull me along? It's just holding hands, why does my heart wander so easily?

After silently reciting these words to himself for a while, he finally calmed down.

The two men walked out of the factory's high walls, and outside, there were more pedestrians on the road.

Because it had rained the day before, the bluestone pavement was exceptionally clean.

A short distance ahead lies a bustling market.

People were coming and going, and it was extremely crowded.

Chu Zhen felt a little nervous and began to regret her hasty decision. She thought that if she just walked a little further and turned away before entering the market, everything would be fine.

She tried to let go of the person's hand, but acted as if nothing was wrong.

This made him feel embarrassed to go too far, thinking that it might give him away.

Thinking this, I felt hot all over and broke out in a light sweat.

Even my palms were sweaty.

It was wet, and I was afraid she would notice.

This feeling is really unpleasant.

"Uncle Zhen, there's a market up ahead, shall we go and have a look?" The girl next to him turned around casually and called out, looking innocent and carefree.

Chu Zhen managed to calm herself down: "This, we... should still..."

"Go ahead, go ahead." Before she could finish speaking, she took her other hand.

He felt as if he had been branded with a hot iron and immediately pulled his hand back.

This is bad.

Le Yan was stunned, looking at him with a slightly puzzled expression.

Chu Zhen froze, realizing that he had indeed made a mistake.

She was clearly free of worries, so why was she behaving so abnormally? This child is so intelligent, she must have noticed something was wrong.

How ridiculous! How could someone my age make the kind of mistakes only a young kid would make?

He was stunned and stared at her blankly.

The person before me was dressed in fiery red.

Yu Xue's lovely face made him somewhat dazed. He remembered that year, there was a man in red, holding a woman in his arms, on the streets of Shundu, in the market.

He assumed that the other person had cheated on him.

Later, still harboring resentment, he went to her to complain.

Unfortunately, little did we know that the wildflowers we mistook for her were actually her in disguise.

No wonder she covered her face and hid in that man's arms as soon as she saw the three of them.
