"Let's go back." Lan'er called to Benben and Heimei and walked towards home. Several years had passed in the blink of an eye, and the loyal big yellow dog had grown old and was walking with a limp.

Chapter 2, Part 1

Inside the room, Shen Caihua was still in bed, naked, whispering to his large parrot, Dudu. "Do you...do you know Brother Ling from Hukou?" Dudu asked him.

"What Brother Ling?" Shen Caihua shook his head, indicating that he had never heard of him.

"Dudu was in the hospital reception room when she heard people talking about...that at the foot of Shizhong Mountain in Hukou County, there was a family whose child died," Dudu stammered.

"So what?" Shen Caihua said.

Dudu took a breath and continued, "When the family was about to bury him, he... he suddenly started talking again."

“That means he’s not dead yet,” Shen Caihua explained.

“He’s dead,” Dudu corrected.

“Dead men cannot speak,” Shen Caihua insisted on his opinion.

"My mouth can't speak... but my stomach can..." Dudu said, blushing.

After listening for a long time, Shen Cai finally understood. It turned out that in Hukou County, more than a hundred miles away, at the foot of Shizhong Mountain on the banks of the Yangtze River, a family had lost a little boy. During the burial, a voice suddenly came from the body, saying that he was "Brother Ling" and could predict the future, hoping that the body would not be buried. The voice was old and deep, definitely not the voice of their child when he was alive. The family was extremely shocked and did not know what to do. The story spread like wildfire, and eventually even the county government was alarmed. When people surrounded the body and asked Brother Ling to verify some things, his answers were absolutely accurate, even the police were amazed. It is said that based on Brother Ling's answers, the police solved several long-standing unsolved murder cases in one fell swoop. Now, the local government has preserved the body in an ice coffin, and experts from all over the country have rushed to Hukou County to conduct scientific research. A few days ago, the Jiujiang Daily also published this strange story on its front page.

“Let’s go find Brother Ling and ask about Mo Mo’s whereabouts,” Shen Caihua said thoughtfully after listening.

“Yes, yes, Hansheng’s dad and Shanren’s grandpa are like looking for a needle in a haystack, like blind men feeling an elephant, while we are... aiming at something, so we can achieve twice the result with half the effort…” Dudu said with a smug wink.

After breakfast, Shen Caihua returned to his room and began to secretly prepare, emptying all the loose change from his piggy bank into his schoolbag. This was money that Lan'er's mother had prepared for him to go to school.

"When are we leaving?" Shen Caihua was already very eager.

"Tonight, after the lights are out, you have to leave...leave a note for Lan'er's mother. By the time she finds it tomorrow morning, we'll already be...far away," Dudu stammered in response.

After noon, Lan'er noticed that Dudu was standing on the table in the reception room, looking up and studying the map of Jiangxi Province hanging on the wall with great concentration.

That night, the moon was bright and the stars were numerous. After the lights in Lan'er's room were turned off, Chen Caihua and Dudu began to take action.

Outside the back window of the side room was a dark thicket of bushes; once you passed through that thicket, you would be out of Nanshan Village.

Shen Caihua changed into a brand-new blue cloth jacket, put on a pair of yellow liberation shoes, carried a schoolbag, gently pushed open the back window, and jumped out.

"Follow me, come with me." Dudu spread its wings and flew into the air, guiding Caihua through the bushes and finally to the mountain path leading to Nanshan Town.

The moonlight was cool, a gentle breeze was blowing, and the chirping of insects echoed through the grass.

Dudu soared freely in the night sky, while Xiao Caihua walked excitedly along the mountain path, feeling a sense of nature and intimacy with everything around him.

"That's Nanshan Town up ahead! Caihua, you're too small to walk fast enough. We need a ride," Dudu called out from above.

Chapter 2, Part 2

In Nanshan Town, most of the houses have turned off their lights, except for one or two small restaurants on the street that still have their doors open. The waiters inside are cleaning and it looks like they are about to close.

A Jiefang brand truck was parked on the side of the road, carrying more than a dozen fat pigs. It looked like they had been purchased in the countryside and were being transported to the slaughterhouse in the county town. The two drivers came out of the restaurant, having eaten and drunk their fill, and were burping as they left.

While they weren't paying attention, Shen Caihua secretly climbed onto the carriage and hid among the fat pigs. Soon after, the car started and headed towards Wuyuan County.

Dudu followed closely in the night sky.

Hukou, Jiangxi Province, was first built during the Southern Tang Dynasty. It is named after its location at the mouth of Poyang Lake and the Yangtze River. It is bordered by Pengze to the east, Poyang to the south, Mount Lu to the west, and the Yangtze River to the north. It has long been known as the "key to the rivers and lakes".

Shizhong Mountain is situated on steep cliffs overlooking the river, covered with lush forests and scattered pavilions. In June of the seventh year of the Yuanfeng era of the Song Dynasty, Su Shi visited Shizhong Mountain in Hukou and wrote "A Record of Shizhong Mountain," a famous piece that has been passed down through the ages.

As dusk fell, the Yangtze River was calm and still, with a gentle breeze bringing coolness and comfort.

At the foot of the mountain, a bustling crowd gathered in front of a farmhouse.

A jeep with a police license plate was parked under the tree, with two policemen leaning against the door, smoking cigarettes and constantly scanning passersby. Most of the people had come to see "Brother Ling," some to inquire about their family members' illnesses, others to ask about their own future, and still others to pray for blessings and protection from misfortune.

In the setting sun, a little boy, about seven or eight years old, with freckles all over his face, walked wearily down the road. He carried a schoolbag on his back, and a large blue-feathered parrot perched on his shoulder. This was Chen Caihua, who had finally arrived at "Brother Ling's" home at the foot of Shizhong Mountain in Hukou after a long journey of a day and a night.

People's attention was drawn to the strange, large bird. They had never seen such a large parrot before, and they began to discuss it animatedly.

"Look, that parrot is so majestic!" exclaimed aloud from the crowd.

"I reckon it could sell for a thousand or eight hundred," someone said enviously.

The two policemen stepped forward, looked the child up and down, and said, "Hey kid, where did you get this parrot? Probably from the zoo?"

Shen Cai stopped in his tracks, looked up at the police, and remained silent.

"Hey, I'm asking you a question. Are you mute?" the young policeman said, frowning.

“You’re the one who’s mute,” Shen Caihua replied.

"Tell me, where did you get this parrot from?" the policeman asked in his usual tone.

“I raised it myself,” Shen Caihua replied.

The policeman shook his head, seemingly disbelieving, and then asked, "Where are your parents?"

Shen Caihua ignored him and continued walking towards the house at the foot of the mountain, with passersby making way for him.

The policeman scratched his head. His job was to guard the ice coffin inside the house, and there was no need to make trouble for a child. So he lit another cigarette and leaned against the jeep door, puffing out smoke.

This is an old-fashioned brick house. A portrait of Chairman Mao hangs on the wall of the main room. In the center of the room is an ice coffin. Through the glass cover, you can clearly see a little boy in a new outfit lying on his back inside. His face is lifelike, as if he is asleep.

Inside the room, several experts who had come from the capital were standing and sitting, discussing their views, while all the ordinary people who came to pay their respects were kept outside the gate.

"Absurd, utterly absurd and ridiculous! We are all Marxist materialists, and at a time when the whole nation is working together to promote the Four Modernizations, we actually believe in this kind of thing that goes against the laws of nature and is idealistic. It is a disgrace to the Communists!" said an old man in a Zhongshan suit, speaking with a Beijing accent, in a condescending manner.

"No, I disagree with Mr. Yu's view. In fact, current medicine knows very little about the mysteries of the human body itself. Qigong, traditional Chinese medicine theory, and special human abilities contain the most fundamental principles of human science. They are not mysterious, but closely related to the cutting edge of modern science and technology. As we all know, in recent years, there have been numerous cases of children in various places discovering special abilities such as reading with their ears, smelling words with their noses, diagnosing diseases with their eyes, and even carrying small objects. Science is developing, and understanding is constantly being improved..." a middle-aged scholar in a suit countered.

"Haha... If people could really see through objects, wouldn't all the casinos in the world have to close down? If people could walk through walls, wouldn't the 'Taoist priest of Laoshan' in Pu Songling's 'Strange Tales from a Chinese Studio' become a god? Absurd, absurd!" Old Yu interrupted the middle-aged scholar, speaking sarcastically.

"Is he 'Brother Ling'?" A childish voice asked from the doorway.

Chapter 2, Section 3

The eyes of everyone inside the house turned to the doorway. They didn't pay much attention to the little boy with freckles on his face, but were astonished by the large green parrot on his shoulder.

"A hyacinth macaw!" an expert recognized it as a rare and endangered bird from South America. "The number of them surviving in the wild in the world is definitely no more than 3,000," the expert remarked.

"Get out! Where did this wild boy come from? Can't you see the experts are busy?" A local government staff member waved his hand, trying to shoo Shen Caihua away.

"Wait," the middle-aged scholar turned to Shen Caihua with a smile and said, "You also know 'Brother Ling'?"

Shen Caihua looked at the man, nodded warily, and then said cautiously, "I want to ask Brother Ling something."

“Look at how serious the pernicious influence of feudal superstition is! Even children believe it. If this gets out, what kind of impact will it have on the mental health of children and teenagers?” Old Yu said, his face flushed and full of reproach.

“Ling Ge is inside that boy’s stomach, but it hasn’t spoken since we arrived here. Little friend, what do you want to ask?” the middle-aged scholar asked Shen Caihua kindly.

"I need to ask Brother Ling, where is Mo Mo?" Shen Caihua felt that this person looked familiar, so he said.

"MoMo? Is that a person's name?" the middle-aged scholar asked.

“He is my friend,” Shen Caihua replied.

“Let’s try again. Maybe it will be easier for the child to communicate with ‘Brother Ling’,” the middle-aged scholar said to the group, while beckoning Shen Caihua to come to the ice coffin.

The plexiglass lid of the ice coffin was pushed open, revealing a white, frosty mist emanating from within.

Shen Cai peeked inside at the little boy lying there and called out, "Brother Ling, Brother Ling..."

Everyone held their breath, staring intently at the ice coffin, but Ling Ge showed no reaction whatsoever.

"Nonsense, utter nonsense." Old Yu shook his head, dismissing it with disdain.

"Brother Ling, Brother Ling, can you hear me?" Shen Caihua continued to call out.

"Ah, it's so cold..." A hoarse voice echoed from inside the ice coffin, sending chills down one's spine.

The voice had a strong northern Jiangxi accent, extremely deep and carrying a sense of vicissitude.

The experts in the room fell silent, listening intently.

Upon hearing Ling Ge's answer, Chen Cai laughed and quickly said, "Ling Ge, I want to ask you, do you know where Mo Mo is?"

Several experts have already stuck their heads into the ice coffin, trying to figure out where the sound is coming from.

"Why should I tell you?" the aged voice said with displeasure.

Date: 2009-07-27 10:57:00

A series of gasps came from inside the room, creating a tense and exciting atmosphere.

"Impossible, who's behind this?" Old Yu's face turned red. He pushed through the crowd, stuck his head into the ice coffin, and pressed his ear against the corpse's stomach.

"Get out of the way, you old bastard," Ling Ge said angrily.

Upon hearing this, Old Yu was taken aback, slowly pulling his head back, his face pale and full of confusion.

The middle-aged scholar breathed a sigh of relief.

A thin old man with a youthful face and white hair, dressed in black, chuckled. He was Fei Ziyun, a researcher at the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, known as Master Fei, and also the abbot of the Daluo Palace in Jiexiu, Shanxi. He was a man of profound learning.

Chapter 2, Section 4

"Currently, research on human special abilities in my country has only just begun. Many human potentials that science cannot explain are being gradually discovered. This is a highly promising productive force, and it can also be said to be a revolution in human history. At this stage, the categories of human special abilities can be roughly divided into five types: opening the third eye, controlling living beings with thoughts, moving objects in the air, rapid repair, and remote sensing. In my opinion, the 'Ling Ge' phenomenon should fall under the category of remote sensing," Fei Ziyun explained to everyone.

"Master Fei, could you explain in more detail?" The middle-aged scholar asked with a smile as his gaze swept over the crowd.

Master Fei coughed knowingly, then began to speak eloquently: "As everyone knows, the visible light we see is a very short segment of the electromagnetic spectrum, with wavelengths between 0.4 and 0.76 micrometers. At the two ends of the spectrum are radio waves, infrared rays, ultraviolet rays, X-rays, gamma rays, and cosmic rays. The 'Third Eye,' also known as the 'third eye,' is located between the eyebrows. It can receive electromagnetic waves between 10 nanometers and 10 picometers, which are essentially X-rays. It can penetrate the medium and clearly see a person's internal organs. Those who have opened their Third Eye can accurately determine the location of internal organs based on the flow of blood and the color of the internal organs." Finding the source of the ailment, and then skillfully applying the ancient Chinese theories of Yin-Yang balance and the Five Elements' mutual generation and restraint, would be enough to make one a legendary healer. Controlling living beings with one's mind, rapid repair, and teleportation—commonly known as "mini-teleportation"—are all acquired through diligent cultivation of human potential, not something that can be achieved overnight. Some incredibly powerful magicians have reached a certain level of proficiency in this area. Remote sensing is one of the most mysterious abilities, capable of probing into the past and future. The length of time and the scope of the probe are directly proportional to the depth of one's skill, and this is currently one of the important topics I am researching.

The crowd listened with admiration, for most people are naturally curious about the mysterious and unknown.

"That old guy is such a chatterbox!" Ling Ge grumbled indignantly from inside the ice coffin.

"The sound really came from inside the stomach!" one expert exclaimed excitedly, having heard it clearly.

The middle-aged scholar smiled silently as he looked at Mr. Yu's embarrassed state.

"I still stand by my point of view and firmly believe in the scientific faith of materialism. Regarding the bizarre phenomenon of 'Brother Ling,' I suggest that the child's body be dissected to see what exactly is causing this trouble inside his stomach," Old Yu said solemnly, his face ashen.

When people heard that "Ling Ge" could be extracted through dissection and that they could see its true form with their own eyes, they were extremely excited and thrilled, and they all cheered. Even Master Fei Ziyun stroked his beard and smiled in tacit approval.

The staff of the Hukou County government immediately called the boy's parents in and told them that the family members were initially unwilling, but after being persuaded of the greater good of the country and promised certain financial compensation, they finally fell silent.

"Heh heh, you'll regret this!" The little boy's stomach emitted a chilling, sinister laugh.
