Kapitel 42

"Little Sister Xin'er!"

The way the address was so clingy and cloying made An Xin feel inexplicably annoyed.

"Is Sister Xin'er going out?" Wang Yihe seemed to have dressed up carefully, his hair was combed neatly, and his clothes were made of brand new fabric and were well-tailored. His face was handsome, but having seen Yan Zhen's face before and having been amazed by the Southern Frontier Sect Leader Yu Xian, An Xin really found it difficult to have any other thoughts about ordinary looks.

"Don't block the way," An Xin said calmly.

The house was small and cramped, and he stood like a wooden stake in the middle of the doorway. If he wanted to get out, it would really be a test of his figure!

Wang Yihe's expression stiffened slightly, but he continued with a smile, "It's not safe outside. I just heard that the woods are haunted, and there are mournful cries at night. Sister Xin'er should stay home these next few days."

An Xin said calmly, "Don't block the way."

Wang Yihe stopped talking later, his gaze towards An Xin filled with an indescribable complexity.

Dewdrop followed him timidly and whispered, "Miss, Young Master Yihe is right. You shouldn't go. If anything happens to you, I won't live either."

An Xin paused and asked, "Where's Dad?"

Dewdrop blinked and said, "Master said that he has not visited Uncle Thirteen since he was demoted, so he and Madam went to visit him today."

An Xin looked at Wang Yihe and asked, "Do you know how to get to Uncle Thirteen's place?"

Wang Yihe was startled and then delighted. He hurriedly turned to the side and pointed, "Go straight, turn left, then turn right, and then walk a few more steps and you'll arrive."

An Xin walked straight out through the space he had made, thinking to herself that the ancients really couldn't speak frankly. For example, when she asked him to move aside, he didn't move like a fool. But when she asked for directions, he immediately moved aside.

However, An Xin changed her mind and turned to walk towards Uncle Thirteen's house.

An Youwei once said that his thirteenth uncle had won a martial arts tournament in the village in his early years, but after his body was crippled, he gradually became despondent and his personality changed drastically.

Instinctively, An Xin suddenly wanted to meet this Uncle Thirteen.

She had an excellent memory, but she wasn't in a hurry. She slowly followed the path Wang Yihe pointed out. As it turned out, Wang Yihe wasn't a very likable person, but the directions he gave were extremely accurate.

An Xin soon saw a dilapidated house. Because it had been neglected for years, it was overgrown with weeds, and it was hard to imagine that people actually lived inside.

The wooden door was half open, and An Xin went in without knocking.

Voices seemed to come from inside the dark window; it was An Youwei saying some comforting words. Before he could finish speaking, he was rudely interrupted by Thirteen, followed by a violent cough.

An Xin's gaze swept around the courtyard and then landed on a corner where there was a small wooden figure. It was very carefully carved, but its appearance was terrifying. At first glance, even though An Xin was extremely brave, she couldn't help but feel a chill in her heart!

She walked over slowly and picked up the little figure. The figure was carved from an ordinary piece of wood. Although the wooden figure had a ferocious expression, it was enough to show that the carving was quite good. Could it have been carved by Uncle Thirteen?

The things around a person can often reflect their personality, thoughts, and mood. If this wooden figure was made by Uncle Thirteen, then it's clear that he has a somewhat abnormal mentality!

An Xin casually put the little figure away, pushed open the door, and went inside.

The room was dimly lit and filled with a damp smell. Suddenly hearing someone push the door open, everyone inside turned around.

"Xin'er?" Xu Ruolan exclaimed in surprise, "Why are you here?"

An Xin smiled slightly and said, "I heard from Lu Zhu that you and Father came to see Uncle Thirteen, so I came along too." As she spoke, An Xin's gaze fell on the man on the bed. His hair was messy, his beard was thick, and his face was disheveled.

An Youwei said, "Xin'er, come and see your thirteenth uncle. He loved you the most when you were little."

An Xin stepped forward, and the man, who had been furious, calmed down a bit when he saw her, but still said indifferently, "Is this the stupid, clumsy girl from back then? She's grown up quite a bit now!"

An Xin pursed her lips and said, "Uncle Thirteen is not the same Uncle Thirteen he used to be."

Zhou Shisan trembled, gave An Xin a sharp look, and shouted angrily, "I am who I am!"

An Xin casually fiddled with the grotesque little figure and said, "Thirteenth Uncle is the opposite age to Father. He's only just reached middle age, yet he's so decadent. What will become of the rest of his life?"

Zhou Shisan's temper instantly flared up. He glared fiercely at An Xin and said, "Shut up..." But his words were cut short when he saw the little figure in An Xin's hand suddenly die. His pupils dilated, and he suddenly screamed, "Get out! Get out! Make that little figure get out!"

An Xin's eyes narrowed suddenly.

An Youwei and Xu Ruolan were startled: "Thirteenth Brother, what's wrong with you?"

"Get her out of here! Get her out of here!" Zhou Shisan shouted frantically, his fear evident in his expression. An Xin tightened her grip on the little figure, then turned and walked out.

As soon as she stepped out of the courtyard, she heard a terrible scream. An Xin's expression changed, and she turned around and ran towards the source of the sound.

Clearly, the scream alerted the villagers, and people began to run out of their homes.

The sound came from the woods. As soon as An Xin entered the woods, she saw a figure running out in a disheveled state. Upon seeing An Xin, the figure seemed to have found a lifeline and grabbed her tightly, trembling so much that he could barely stand. He was clearly terrified.

His claw struck the wound on An Xin's arm, causing her to wince in pain and glare as she coldly shouted, "Let go!"

"A ghost! A female ghost has killed someone... A female ghost has killed someone..."

A female ghost!?

It's a female ghost again!

The villagers' voices came from behind, and everyone rushed over, asking in a panic, "Liu Ergou, what happened?"

"A female ghost, a female ghost killed someone... She died so tragically... She died so tragically!" Liu Ergou muttered, trembling as if possessed, which made the villagers' faces change.

An Xin pushed the man aside and rushed into the woods.

The villagers naturally recognized An Xin and knew that this little girl had solved two murder cases in a row, which even the Wind Clan had to look at with new respect. Someone immediately said, "Quickly follow this girl, the more people there are, the less likely the ghosts will dare to cause trouble!"

An Xin ran as fast as she could. The forest was shrouded in mist, and the air seemed to be filled with a faint smell of blood. It sounded like crows were cawing mournfully in the forest. An Xin looked around and suddenly the air seemed to pick up a gust of wind. She turned her head sharply, and in the mist, she saw a disheveled white figure disappear like a ghost!

An Xin quickly gave chase, but there was nothing in the forest except for the mist.
