Ein Bericht über Vergnügen - Kapitel 62

Kapitel 62

"You believe in Buddhism?" Yichun found it intriguing and leaned closer to take a closer look.

He shook his head: "I'll give it away as a gift in a few months."

He carefully and meticulously slashed Guanyin's face, making her dignified yet charming. Although she was very beautiful, she was somewhat different from the Guanyin in the temple. She seemed to have more of a down-to-earth quality, and was not so much like a high and mighty deity.

Yi Chun asked with a smile, "After repaying the favor, where does Shu Jun plan to go for fun?"

As he carefully sculpted Guanyin's eyebrows, he replied, "First, go to Suzhou to sweep the graves of my deceased friends."

Her heart felt like it had been struck by something, and her whole body trembled.

Yang Shen is buried in Suzhou.

She said softly, "I'll go with you... Shu Jun, thank you for taking care of Yang Shen's funeral arrangements."

He smiled, not really caring: "There's nothing to thank me for. We've known each other for a while now, I'm just happy."

He always acted impulsively and unpredictably. He was happy to get involved in the messy affairs of the Yan family because he was pleased. And because he was happy, he enjoyed his time with her in Dongjiang Lake.

Yichun stopped thanking him and watched him carve Guanyin for a while before suddenly saying, "No, Guanyin's hairstyle isn't like that. You've got it wrong."

The wooden Guanyin statue, adorned in magnificent robes and with elegant hair, was beautiful as an immortal, but the more you looked at it, the less it resembled Guanyin Bodhisattva.

Shu Jun remained silent for a long time until he finished carving the intricate and beautiful hair ornaments, then he whispered, "It's not Guanyin, it's my mother."

The Guanyin with her misty hair and delicate features is stunningly beautiful, captivating all who behold her.

Yi Chun had nothing to say. She knew absolutely nothing about Shu Jun.

"Shu Jun, are you going home for Chinese New Year this year? Where do you live?"

I was still a little curious and couldn't help but ask him.

He hummed in agreement, then suddenly looked up at her and chuckled, “Want to come to my house? It’s quite far, near the Great Snow Mountain. Besides, it’s all empty and there’s nothing fun about it, just a tomb.”

During the past six months, I've been wandering around Yichun, and I've heard all sorts of messy rumors about the underworld, from people I know and don't know. Occasionally, I've heard others mention Shu Jun, mostly in the tone of "this person is a scoundrel, lewd and shameless."

Rumor has it that he was a womanizer who preyed on respectable women and discarded them after he had his way with them.

Legend has it that his family lives on a golden mountain, where there is a sea of gems.

Various rumors circulated, with people talking animatedly and listeners being dazzled by the sheer volume of information.

But he said his house was empty, with only a grave. These rumors from the streets are indeed mostly nonsense.

She said, "After I avenge Yang Shen's family, I'll come to your house to visit you."

Shu Jun glanced at her indifferently: "You believed me so quickly? Aren't you afraid I'm lying to you?"

She shook her head: "You're not lying to me."

Shu Jun didn't say anything more and focused on carving the wood.

Little Pumpkin was late returning from grocery shopping. The sun was climbing higher and higher, and it was getting hot. Yichun had a thin layer of sweat on her back.

She raised her hand to wipe her forehead when she suddenly heard a sharp gust of wind behind her, as if some sharp weapon was flying through the air.

Instinctively, she quickly stepped aside, but Shu Jun remained motionless, letting the sharp weapon graze her ear and embed itself directly into the large tree behind her, making a resounding clang.

Someone attacked! Yi Chun drew her sword and was about to give chase, but Shu Jun grabbed her sleeve: "It's nothing, just an old acquaintance delivering a message."

He stuffed the half-carved wooden Guanyin into his bosom, then pulled the small iron arrow nailed to the tree. Sure enough, there was an envelope attached to it, sealed with sealing wax and stamped with a plum blossom.

"I have to go out for a while." After reading the letter, he only said this and turned to leave.

Halfway there, he suddenly turned back and said, "Don't wander off. Don't let the Juxia Gang find you. Be a good boy and wait for me to come back." After saying that, he rolled his eyes and added, "If you behave, I'll tell you about the Juxia Gang when I get back. Otherwise, I won't tell you a single word."

They were clearly treating her like a child. Yichun nodded, not knowing whether to laugh or cry, and quickly asked, "When can you come back?"

He thought for a moment: "At most three days, at least half a day."

It wasn't until Little Pumpkin returned from buying groceries in his leisurely boat that Yichun remembered the question of how Shujun would cross the river without a boat.

"Little Pumpkin, your master has gone out on business and won't be back for a few days." Yichun sat at the bow of the boat, shelling edamame for him, and told him this news.

Little Pumpkin wasn't surprised at all: "I know, I just met my master on the lake. He even told me to take good care of my sister! Just tell me what you want to eat today, and since you don't like sweets, I'll just add more salt!"

She was astonished: "How did he cross the river? Did he swim across?"

Little Pumpkin chuckled and winked, "Sister, our master is such a clever person, of course he made preparations beforehand. Actually, we have another boat moored under that cliff over there, but I didn't tell you before. How about that? Don't you think our master is smart and capable?"

He loved to boast about Shu Jun in front of Yi Chun. His master was concerned about his reputation and forbade him to say anything sycophantic. Now that Shu Jun wasn't around, he was determined to say it all and wouldn't stop until he had won Yi Chun's heart!

Yichun nodded and said, "A cunning rabbit has three burrows."

That was a very standard comment. Little Pumpkin was so angry that she kept pouting, and she didn't put her mouth down even while eating.

"Sister, you've been living with the master for so many days, aren't you happy?" After finishing the meal, Little Pumpkin started helping Shu Jun wash clothes, while continuing to banter with Yi Chun. If he gave up so easily, he wouldn't be called Little Pumpkin.

Yichun thought for a moment and said, "No, actually I'm very happy and comfortable. Shu Jun is a very interesting person."

Little Pumpkin laughed and said, "That's it. Actually, Master is a very good person. Don't listen to those messy rumors in the martial arts world. They're just people talking nonsense because they don't know him. Master never gets involved with women. It's just that he's handsome and kind, so girls always like to get close to him. If he were a licentious person, he would have been enjoying the blessings of having multiple wives long ago. Why would I need to dress up as a woman to help him out?"

Yichun nodded again: "That's right, all he cares about is money."

Little Pumpkin looked at her strangely and sighed, "Sister, is Master really that bad in your eyes? His hoarding of money isn't a flaw. It's like some people like to collect porcelain, and some people like to collect calligraphy and paintings. Master just likes to collect money. Why should he be considered inferior? Although I don't know much about him, Master must have lived a poor life before. He grew up without a father or mother. His stinginess now is just a habit."

Yichun laughed: "You always speak well of him."
