La ville solitaire a fermé - Chapitre 12

Chapitre 12

"Hand it over." Those were still the same cold eyes, but the tone was slightly more forceful.

"Heh, you're really capable, even finding this place." Looking directly into his eyes, Wanyan Lie saw a hint of arrogant confidence in them. He was certain of his abilities.

"Hand it over!" Flying Eagle said coldly, enunciating each word clearly.

Wanyan Lie's bodyguard, Zicheng, had beads of sweat on his forehead. This man was definitely dangerous, and he began to worry about his master.

Wanyan Lie, however, seemed to have had enough fun and turned to Bai Qianqian. He smiled playfully, "Princess Bai, I want the souvenirs you took last time back, and then I'll give you back what you want, how about that?" He deliberately pointed to his lips.

"You!" Bai Qianqian was furious and embarrassed. Just as she was about to draw her sword, Fei Ying's sharp sword had already slashed Wanyan Lie's neck, leaving a long, fresh bloodstain.

"Tsk tsk, what a cruel heart." Wanyan Lie brushed the blood from his neck, yet remained nonchalant. "Palace Master, do you really have the heart to kill me?"

"I can't bring myself to hit you." To be honest, she really couldn't bring herself to hurt anyone who wasn't too bad, especially someone like him who had just lost his father and had abandoned her in the past. Although he always had a half-smile on his face, he was also a person who had suffered a lot, somewhat like Flying Eagle.

"Hehe, since you're so magnanimous as to spare my life, I'll just have to return the favor. But... may I call you Qianqian from now on?" Wanyan Lie smiled seductively.

"Whatever!" Anyway, I'll get it and leave immediately, and we'll never see each other again. I don't care what they call me.

“Very well, then you can stay here tonight. We’ll go get them together tomorrow. I’ve put them in a secret place.” Wanyan Lie stared at Bai Qianqian meaningfully, then gave Feiying a challenging look. “Zicheng, take them to rest.”

"Yes!" Zicheng breathed a sigh of relief, his heart finally at ease. Master, please, please don't let it happen again! Have pity on us subordinates! I don't want to be tortured to death like this all the time!

Chapter Thirty-Nine: Expressing Love

"Please rest in the guest rooms Lanyun and Zhucui over here. If needed, please summon Lan'er and Zhu'er; they are our maids." Zicheng, indifferent but polite, led Bai Qianqian and Feiying to the east wing of the courtyard. He needed to check on his master's injury quickly; that sword wound was quite deep!

"Thank you." Bai Qianqian displayed her proper demeanor, which surprised Zicheng for a moment. This... is the same girl who was almost going crazy just now? After a slight bow, Zicheng suppressed his doubts and quickly left.

"Heh." Understanding his brief expression of surprise, Bai Qianqian smiled and turned to look at Feiying. "Rest." He hadn't had a proper rest in over half a month. To investigate Wanyan Lie's whereabouts, he hadn't slept for even an hour for several days. Looking at his dark red eyes, she was truly afraid he wouldn't be able to hold on, and a strange feeling of reluctance welled up in her heart.

She gazed intently into his eyes, her gaze filled with endless tenderness and... a touch of domineering power? Although she wanted to hug him tightly, Bai Qianqian held back. Sigh, she suddenly felt much more timid, and she didn't know why.

Just as he was about to turn around, his fiery lips captured hers. A touch of possessiveness, a hint of frenzied jealousy, and even more tenderness.

"Hmm?" Bai Qianqian was stunned in surprise. When did Fei Ying become so bold? Thinking of their first kiss, and how he would blush, endless sweetness welled up in her heart.

"Flying Eagle?" After finally separating, she looked at him with a puzzled expression.

"Your lips...don't have anyone else's scent on them." Flying Eagle looked at her intently, but felt somewhat awkward and embarrassed.

"Flying Eagle..." Bai Qianqian looked at him sweetly, then hugged him tightly, "This is what I've always wanted to do, it's so wonderful to be able to do this!"

Flying Eagle paused for a moment, then hugged her tightly.

"Can we...be together forever?" she murmured involuntarily. She had never thought about this question before, because she hadn't realized how deep her feelings for him were. Now, she suddenly understood, but she would eventually leave this place and return to the 32nd century. What would she do then? Thinking about it, she gripped the eagle even tighter, a sense of fear welling up inside her—the fear of separation.

"We'll be together, forever!" Flying Eagle solemnly declared, but why did a faint worry linger in his heart? It was as if she would one day leave him? After all, he knew very little about her identity, her past. Would she... leave? No! He would keep her by his side, and even if she wanted to leave, he would stay with her!

"Mm." Bai Qianqian suppressed her hidden worry and responded with a bright smile. "Get some rest!" Then she playfully kissed him suddenly, quickly turned and went into the room. Flying Eagle, blushing again, stood there stunned for a long time.

In a secluded corner, a cold and handsome figure flashed by, a bitter smile appearing on his beautifully shaped lips. "Flying Eagle, treat her well." He used his superb lightness skill to leave in a dark and elegant manner, his departing figure exuding infinite loneliness.

Chapter 40 Danger 1

"Master," Zicheng reported to his scouts as he applied medicine to Wanyan Lie's wounds. "The Second Prince is about to make a move against the First Prince."

"..." Wanyan Lie looked up at the moon outside the window and sighed. "Wanyan Kang, you really went ahead and did it." Although he had no feelings for his elder brother, they were still blood relatives, and he didn't want to see brothers turn against each other. However, he no longer cared about such matters; he had no intention of getting involved in the power struggles.

"Also, the Second Prince seems to have discovered our whereabouts. Master, we need to make some preparations." Zicheng said seriously, not allowing his master to continue playing around.

“Alright, then go and make the arrangements. Let’s leave Western Xia and head to Dali.” Wanyan Lie stood up gracefully. “It’s been a long time since I’ve visited old friends; it’s time to say hello.”

"Yes!" Zicheng accepted the order and left.

Deep in the dense forest, inside a secluded stone house.

"News?" An asked casually, sitting on the stone chair, his voice soft, yet exuding an aura of authority.

"Wanyan Kang has secretly dispatched two hundred archers and one hundred imperial guards to ambush them on their inevitable route." The scout spoke respectfully, but with a hint of fear. This was not good news; if the leader were displeased, his life could be in danger...

"Hmph!" With a slight exertion, the teacup in An's hand was shattered. "Wanyan Kang, you'd better give up. If you hurt her, you'll die a horrible death."

"This... Master, I'm afraid we..." The scout's heart was in his throat, but he still had to report the situation. "We don't have enough manpower." Most of his men had been sent to various places to appease refugees who wanted to avoid the war. He didn't know why the Master had suddenly given such an order.

"Is that so?" He narrowed his eyes coldly and stood up abruptly. The scout's heart was in his throat, but fortunately, he was quite capable and his breathing remained calm.

"Mobilize all the men here, and set off immediately once they are assembled." He glanced at the scout kneeling on one knee and gave the order in a cold voice.

"Yes!" A sigh of relief escaped his lips. Was it just his imagination? The leader seemed to have changed slightly? At least he no longer carried that faint, menacing aura like Shura. Heaven help him, let this change continue!

The next day, early morning, Wolf Valley.

"How much further?" Bai Qianqian was already tired of riding horses and couldn't help but ask.

"It might take another two hours." Wanyan Lie frowned as he watched Feiying considerately lift Bai Qianqian onto his horse, the two of them riding together. Although he had a premonition that they were lovers, seeing it in person still made him very unwilling. It seemed that he really had no chance. Sigh, oh well, he should be more carefree; there are plenty of fish in the sea.

"There's an ambush!" Flying Eagle sensed the murderous aura in the distance and hugged Bai Qianqian tightly.

"Heh, sorry, they're after me." Wanyan Lie smiled apologetically. "Looks like there's no way to avoid it. Can you protect her?" He was very confident in Fei Ying's abilities; otherwise, he wouldn't have taken this risk. However, the fact that Wanyan Kang made arrangements so quickly suggests that he has quite a few spies around him.

"There's a fork in the road ahead. One road to the right leads to Dali, the middle road leads to Wolf Valley Cliff, and the left road leads to the Western Xia capital. Take care, it looks like we're in for a tough battle..." A sharp, melodious whistle escaped his lips, followed by the sounds of fighting ahead.

"Go!" Wanyan Lie cracked his whip and galloped off, with Zicheng immediately following on horseback.

“Flying Eagle…” Bai Qianqian looked at Flying Eagle deeply, “We will definitely be safe and sound, right?” Without the compression belt as a backup plan, Bai Qianqian was a little worried.

"Yes, I will protect you." Flying Eagle said firmly, hugged her tightly, and spurred his horse to gallop away.

"Flying Eagle, I want us both to be safe and sound!" These words echoed in her mind, interrupted by a sudden sandstorm.

On the other side were the Wuya Sect members who had just arrived.

"Master, a chaotic battle has broken out ahead!" It was the same scout who solemnly reported the situation at the front: "Wanyan Lie's forces are slightly at a disadvantage, while Bai Gongzhu and Feiying are in the center of the battlefield."

"Protect Bai Qianqian first, kill anyone else who gets close to them!" After giving the order, he coldly spurred his horse and charged into the battlefield.

The battle is escalating...

Chapter 41 Danger 2

Like a rain of arrows, whistling through the air, they pierced the air, leaving a constant rustling sound. Flying Eagle's sword moved swiftly, powerfully deflecting the deadly weapons. The stench of blood grew thicker...

This is the battlefield… a merciless battlefield, a battlefield of carnage, where everyone fights desperately to end it as soon as possible, with no time to care who will fall next. There is no time to fear death; only by ending it as quickly as possible can the greatest victory be guaranteed. Bai Qianqian quietly looked around, filled with endless sorrow. Having someone to care about truly changes one's state of mind. If it were before, she would have been excited to join in the fun; now, she only wanted to escape far away. "Flying Eagle, please be alright…" she prayed desperately in her heart, but why did she still feel empty? Even though Flying Eagle's swordsmanship was so skillful, why did a bad premonition always linger in her heart?

"An!" Bai Qianqian exclaimed in surprise. Was that An riding towards them on horseback?

The tide of battle began to turn with the arrival of the other side. Within half an hour, the entire battle situation stabilized.

"Dark. Thank you!" Bai Qianqian smiled happily. "By the way, how did you end up here?"

"I... have come to visit an old friend. Are you two alright?" An looked at the two riding together on a horse and smiled faintly. "They seem fine. Take care... until we meet again." An tilted his head slightly, looked coldly at Wanyan Lie, his narrow eyes narrowed, a hint of killing intent flashed, and after a pause, he quickly turned and left.

“Dark…” Bai Qianqian looked at his departing figure, lost in thought.

"Phew." Zicheng couldn't help but exhale. Just who had his master offended? That person's eyes were terrifying, almost as fierce as Flying Eagle's aura. And they were clearly hostile towards his beloved master. Heavens, have pity on me! Zicheng sighed inwardly.

"This... here you go." Wanyan Lie took out Bai Qianqian's necklace and jewelry from his robes and sighed. "I originally wanted to spend more time with you and make friends. However, it seems I've only dragged you into this. I'm truly sorry... you may leave now."

"Hmm?" Bai Qianqian looked at Wanyan Lie, who seemed quite disappointed, and actually felt a sense of guilt? What the hell! "Well, you don't need to blame yourself. It's not entirely your fault. But, it's still okay to be friends." Bai Qianqian extended her hand to Wanyan Lie in a friendly gesture.

Wanyan Lie understood her meaning and happily reached out his hand, which was then firmly grasped by the hand that Flying Eagle suddenly extended.

"Hehe, Flying Eagle, you're so enthusiastic." Wanyan Lie chuckled mischievously. "Then we'll meet again!" Just as Wanyan Lie was about to leave with the remaining sixty-odd men, a barrage of cold arrows suddenly shot towards them.

"Oh no, the arrow is poisoned!" Zi Cheng shouted hurriedly when he saw the guard's face turn black after being shot. "Protect the master!"

"I didn't expect Wanyan Kang to have a backup plan. He really cares about my life." Wanyan Lie snorted coldly, exuding an aura of domineering power.

That must be his true nature, right? A prince with the demeanor of a true king, no wonder his brothers wouldn't let him go!

Another long, drawn-out whistle rang out from his lips, and the incoming arrows suddenly became somewhat chaotic, their attack power significantly reduced. "Unfortunately, I also had a backup plan. It seems my life won't be so easily taken away." Wanyan Lie coldly watched another chaotic battle rage in the distance.

The battle continued, with both sides of the three-way intersection blocked, leaving only the Wolf Valley Cliff as the only option.

Bai Qianqian didn't even have time to put on her miniature teleporter and compression bag; she just held them tightly in her hand.

As they drew closer to the precipice, the chaotic battle gradually subsided.

"Looks like I can keep my life for a while longer." Wanyan Lie said with a nonchalant sneer as he watched the increasingly sparse rain of arrows.

"Heh, you seem to be having a really easy time." Bai Qianqian said dismissively, her unease growing stronger the closer she got to the cliff.

Flying Eagle sensed her unease, and his warm hand gripped hers tightly, conveying a sense of steadfastness that inexplicably put her at ease.

"Sharpshooter, it's up to you now." On a distant hilltop, a burly man was aiming his bow, and the target was none other than Wanyan Lie.

"Rest assured, I will not let down the Second Prince's expectations." The burly man roared, and with all his might, he shot out the pure gold arrow in his hand, carrying the force of thunder, towards the target...

The golden arrow gleamed brilliantly in the sunlight.

"Watch out!" From afar, Bai Qianqian noticed the beam of light shooting towards her at high speed.

Everything seemed to happen in an instant, and then everything seemed to freeze in time...

A sudden gust of wind, carrying sand and stones, caused the golden arrow to deviate slightly from its course and hurtle towards Bai Qianqian and the flying eagle.

Then, Flying Eagle swung his sword to block, and a loud "clang" rang out. The shock caused Bai Qianqian's hand to loosen, and something fell to the ground. The wind and sand blinded her, and she frantically grabbed at something, managing only to catch a chain, which she then clutched tightly.

Then, the powerful force of the golden arrow forced the two of them off their horses and flew backward, crashing straight into Wolf Valley!

"Qianqian!" An, who was rushing over from afar after hearing the news, watched helplessly as the two fell, letting out a heart-wrenching roar.

Wanyan Lie stood on the edge of the cliff, his hands clenched tightly, and he uttered three words in a low voice, "Wanyan Kang!"

Chapter 42 A Brief Separation 1

The fierce wind, like a knife, seemed to sever her.

Bai Qianqian's eyes were tightly shut, unable to open. She only knew that she was falling rapidly, her heart filled with boundless fear. A scream was stuck in her throat, unable to come out. "Have we all fallen? Flying Eagle, where are you?" This question urgently echoed in her mind.

Suddenly, a firm, warm hand grasped hers, then pulled her close and held her tightly. "Flying Eagle!" Knowing it was him, she felt relieved. The two continued their descent, still embracing each other.
