Kapitel 22

"Oh, rules, Xiao Wu, teach this lady what rules are." Without a trace of warmth in her smile, her cold eyes looked at Xue Fei in front of her. Since you want to be cannon fodder so badly, I'll grant your wish. Don't say I didn't take care of you.

Consort Xue looked at me timidly, but her pride wouldn't allow her to lower her proud head. "How dare you! I am a noble consort..."

Before Xue Fei could finish speaking, Xiao Wu stepped forward and slapped her twice before returning to my side.

"Now Your Highness knows what the rules are, right?" Looking at her kindly, "Or would Your Highness like me to teach you a little more?"

"Madam Jue, I'm still here."

"It's because the Empress Dowager is here that Zixue wants to teach them what manners are," she said, glancing at the Empress Dowager while casually sipping her tea.

"Shouldn't Lady Jue give me an explanation?" Her angry eyes glared at me.

"Empress Dowager, what explanation do you want from Zixue?" That old woman is really annoying.

"Madam, it seems you've forgotten you're in the palace," the usually quiet Empress blurted out.

Looking at the gentle empress, I really felt that appearances can be deceiving, and one cannot judge a book by its cover. Such a seemingly ethereal woman is actually the empress; it seems that she is no ordinary person to have reached this position.

"Hahahaha!" I burst out laughing. I laughed at their ignorance and their meddling!

My smile stunned everyone present.

His dark eyes were like the red spider lilies blooming in hell, and his cold expression was like a glacier in winter.

"The Empress seems to have forgotten that I am Lady Jue!"

Upon hearing my words, the once proud empress turned pale, her lips trembling as she was unable to speak. It seemed she understood the meaning behind my words.

"Very well, I will not pursue this matter. But, Madam Jue, shouldn't you give me an answer regarding the poisoning incident?" The Empress Dowager changed the subject and pressed for an answer.

"What answer does the Empress Dowager want from Zixue?" The voice was neither loud nor soft, but cold and icy.

"You..." The Empress Dowager was so angry that her face turned green. She stood up and pointed at me.

"What?" A resolute, icy voice came from outside the door.

Chapter Forty-Nine

Upon hearing the familiar voice, I abruptly looked towards the door.

Her stunningly beautiful figure, cold and aloof face, and exquisitely crafted robes, along with her deep, penetrating eyes, pierced the hearts of everyone present like a sharp sword.

It is silent, yet it gives people an invisible sense of oppression; if you relax even slightly, you will be paralyzed on the ground.

"Jue, you're here!" I ran into his arms, and Jue embraced me.

"Them?" His emotionless, flat eyes swept over the people in the room, while the ladies inside were filled with fear and unease, powerless to suppress their inner terror.

"Oh, the Empress Dowager said I invited the imperial physician, so she brought a large group of concubines here to offer her greetings." "I am too high up," I said with difficulty, raising my head to speak to him. Perhaps knowing my hardship, Jue glanced down at me, then put his arm around my waist and carried me to the seat of honor.

"Madam and Young Master Jue are so deeply in love, how can I ignore them even here?" The implication is unclear, but it means that Jue and I have been unruly and have neglected her.

"Is there anything else, Your Majesty? Zixue has said everything she should have said, and even things she shouldn't have said."

“Young Master Jue, your wife is indeed clever, but she’s a bit too clever.” I turned my head to look at Jue, who had been staring at me.

"What the Empress Dowager said is funny. Zixue understands that you should treat people differently depending on who you are," she said with a meaningful smile as she looked at the empresses below who had become somewhat more restrained.

Weren't you all gathered here today just to see me make a fool of myself and have the Empress Dowager teach me a lesson? Now that the devil has arrived, everyone's become mute.

"Let's go!" The Empress Dowager, who was about to say something, was silenced by Jue's sudden words. Her face turned from red to green, then from green to purple, like a seven-colored plate, which was quite amusing.

Suppressing her laughter, she dared not let it out loud. Now was not the time to confront the Empress Dowager. However, Jue was truly shrewd, dismissing the Empress Dowager with a single sentence.

With a flick of her sleeve, the Empress Dowager, her face stern, led the ladies-in-waiting away from the place.

After Xue'er left, I thought they were all gone, but then I heard Jie'er's voice.

"Jie'er" looked at her suspiciously, raising an eyebrow and saying, "Are you interrogating me like this too?"

"No, no, I just came to see you," Jie'er said, waving her hands frantically.

"Look how scared you are! I was just kidding." I chuckled as I looked at Jie'er's pale face.

"Well, I'm glad you're alright. I'm leaving now," Jie'er said, turning back every few steps, looking at us with reluctance.

With a thud, perhaps due to her carelessness, the jade pendant at her waist fell off.

"Ah!" She quickly reached out and picked up the jade pendant before walking out.

That jade pendant... I feel like I've seen it somewhere before, but where? Ah, right, it's on her.

"What?" she asked, touching my face.

Then I remembered I was on Jue's body, and looking at him shyly, I said, "Jue, they're gone."

"Hmm," still no movement.

"I'm coming down," she said cautiously, glancing at Jue, and slowly touched the ground with her feet.

"Don't move!" He hugged me even tighter, pressed my feet back into place, and ruined my plan!

After Baojue fell asleep leaning against me, I gently called out to Xiaowu, "Xiaowu."

"Miss, what's wrong?"

"Xiao Wu, could you go get something for me?"

"What"

"medicine"

"medicine?"

"Medicines that can counteract poisoning, especially those that can cure aphrodisiacs and lustful drugs."

"this"

"I'm thinking, perhaps she should make a move," he smiled meaningfully.

"Yes, Miss." The warm sunlight shone on Xiaowu's face, yet it reflected a faint chill!

As I closed my eyes, I saw a pair of sharp eyes, and a bloodthirsty dragon had already unfurled its gleaming fangs.

I don't know how long I slept. To be honest, it seems like I've been sleeping all the time since I came here. I fall asleep all the time, especially in Jue's arms. If this continues, I'll turn into a pig. I guess I need to find something to do, otherwise I'll be lazy to death!

"Miss"

"Hmm," I said, looking at Xiao Wu who had suddenly appeared in front of me. At first, I was terrified by them, but after getting used to it, I didn't think much of it. To be honest, getting used to something is a really scary thing.

"What's up"

"Miss, here's the medicine you wanted." Two pills lay quietly in Xiao Wu's palm.

Picking up this pill, which looks about the size of my little finger, I really doubt if it's really the antidote.

"Miss, is this true?" Xiao Wu said helplessly, seeing my skeptical expression.

It's incredible! The wisdom of the ancients is truly amazing. It seems that they might have been even smarter than us modern people!

"Miss," Xiao Wu looked at me with a serious expression.

I popped the pill into my mouth; it was sweet and delicious.

"Xiao Wu, make more next time, it's so delicious!" She looked at Xiao Wu with lingering satisfaction.

Xiao Wu's forehead twitched. This medicine wasn't something you could just ask for. It contained many precious medicinal herbs. Did Miss think it was a pastry that you could just ask for and have?

"Xiao Wu, they should be making their move in the next few days!" I've calculated the time, it should be about time, they should be getting impatient, I really want to see what they're up to.

"Miss, be careful," Xiao Wu's eyes flashed with an unprecedented coldness.

"Miss, the pastries are here," Xiao Wan's melodious voice came from outside the door.

"Come in" gestured for Xiao Wu to quiet down.

"Miss, these are pastries from the kitchen," Xiao Wan said with a smile as she placed the pastries on the table.

"Okay," she said, casually eating the pastries.

"Xiao Wu, could you help me? I wanted to embroider a brocade pouch for the young lady, but I put the needle and thread too high, and I don't have the strength." Xiao Wu looked at me with difficulty.

"Go ahead," he casually waved his hand.

"yes"

"This servant takes her leave."

After they left, I felt a little dizzy. I patted my head with my hand and ate the last one. The dizziness disappeared and I felt clear-headed.

They acted so quickly! Luckily, Xiaowu reminded me to eat one first and then eat another if I noticed anything wrong.

I pretended to fall onto the table, closed my eyes, and listened to the sounds around me.

A moment later, the door creaked open. People came in one after another, and I could hear footsteps approaching. I controlled my breathing.

"Quick, get her to bed." A voice so familiar it was almost unrecognizable came from beside me; it really was her.

I felt like I was lifted into the air and placed on the bed, and I felt like my clothes were taken off, leaving me only in my underwear.

"Quick!" Upon hearing her command, I sensed another person beside me. I didn't know who it was, but I was certain it was a man.

After a short while, the room fell silent again, but this time with an added sense of gloom.

I opened my eyes, stood up, and looked at the unconscious man on my bed with a cold smile. Hmph, if you're going to put on an act, at least find someone good-looking. You picked this skinny monkey, he's disgusting to look at. He's obviously not my type. Am I that desperate? To want someone like this?

"Miss" Xiao Wu held a cold sword to his neck, waiting for me to give the order to kill.

"Xiao Wu" pulled down her hand, saying, "The performance should be comprehensive."

"He defiled the young lady."

Xiao Wu's words stunned me: "Xiao Wu, he didn't do anything, how can you say he defiled me? If you say that later, people will misunderstand."

"But Miss..." Xiao Wu looked at me anxiously.

"fine"

No sooner had he finished speaking than a commotion arose outside.

I quickly told Xiaowu to hide, then put on a coat and sat leisurely on the table, munching on sunflower seeds, waiting for the fish to fall into the net.
