Jiangnan Gaiden - Capítulo 54
With the help of several children, the kite finally took off, albeit narrowly. The children all shouted with joy! They circled around Wuxia, cheering her on, determined to fly higher than the young mistress.
"Want to be taller than me? You're still a long way off! Bring me some string!" Huan'er hurriedly called to the servant standing to the side, and soon two long strands of string were quickly presented.
Soon, the children, itching to show off their skills, took out their homemade kites and eagerly launched them into the air. Of the dozen or so kites, two colorful phoenixes soared the highest. The atmosphere was incredibly lively. The servants wanted to join in, but dared not play during work hours. The rules at Aolong Castle were very strict, and they were content just to steal a moment to stand and watch.
As soon as the three Shi brothers and Leng Ziyang and his son left Fengyun Tower, they felt that the castle was unusually quiet, but there was a commotion in the distance. Apart from the servants who were on guard duty, cleaning, and serving tea, the others were nowhere to be seen.
"What's going on?" Leng Ziyang asked the passing maid.
"The young mistress and the others are flying kites," the maid said, pointing to the sky.
Everyone looked up at the vibrant sky. Knowing it was Huan'er who started it, they weren't surprised; she was capable of anything.
"Who is the other one?" Wu Jie asked.
The servants dared not play with the ornate paper kites; they must belong to another master.
Everyone looked at Leng Gang again.
“It’s flawless.” Leng Gang smiled wryly. He often encouraged Wuxia to learn from his sister-in-law.
Upon reaching the back of the fort, the boisterous servants fell silent, with only a few people staring intently at the sky cheering on still laughing.
Huan'er was the most striking; her red dress accentuated her fair skin. Her cheeks were rosy, and her eyes sparkled; she was at her most beautiful at that moment.
"Wuxia, get away from me! Wow! They're fighting!" Huan'er cried out in alarm as the two kites got tangled up because they were too close together.
Pull the string with all your might.
"I can't pull it open, sister-in-law, think of something quickly, the wire will break!"
"Why don't you switch places?" Yu Niang suggested.
No sooner said than done, both kites simultaneously flew away to freedom, and cries of disappointment echoed everywhere.
Huan'er stood with her hands on her hips, glaring indignantly at the sky.
"You heartless bastards! It's not like we're stopping you from getting married; eloping together is just unreasonable."
"Sister-in-law, are they a man and a woman?" Wuxia was very disappointed, staring blankly at the sky. She was having so much fun when this happened. What a spoilsport!
"What else could it be but a man and a woman! Two men or two women can't pull off the trick!" She threw down the string. "I'm not playing anymore!" Just as she was about to turn around, she bumped into a fleshy wall. She struggled to open her eyes and saw her husband's loving face.
"Why are you up so early today?" Huan'er exclaimed happily.
Wu Xia's face was flushed, as if she had been caught doing something wrong. Leng Gang smiled gently at his wife, took her hand, and led her back to the Plum Garden.
With no show to watch, the servants scattered like birds and beasts.
