Eine eisige Aura - Kapitel 4
"Hmph, no matter how much you glare, knives won't fly out of your eyes."
The person under the tree gave her a hypocritical reminder, exuding an aura of domineering arrogance that seemed to say, "What can you do to me?"
Pang Wan's lips were tightly pressed together, her eyes blazing with anger. She thought that if her eyes could fly knives, the person opposite her would probably have been sliced to pieces long ago.
The person under the tree was calm and patient. He didn't speak and continued to watch her leisurely.
The stalemate lasted for the time it takes for an incense stick to burn. Just as the branch beneath their feet was about to snap, the moment the "crack" sound rang out, Pang Wan pouted and reluctantly called out, "Brother Nanyi."
In the end, she was defeated.
Pang Wan was quite surprised to see Nan Yi at Xiao Nan Lou. Although Xiao Nan Lou was his residence, she had always thought he was out training in the martial world and had not yet returned.
"Didn't the sect leader give you two years to challenge the righteous sects? How come you're back in less than half a year?"
As the branch snapped, Pang Wan jumped to the ground, holding the fruit basket steadily in her hand.
"Of course, something good happened that brought me back."
Nan Yi watched her every move, a strange smile appearing on his lips.
"What's up?"
Pang Wan cautiously hid the fruit basket behind his back, and the hairs he had just smoothed stood on end again.
Nan Yi used the breath from his nose to show his disdain for her little actions, then looked up at the sky and said smugly, word by word: "This young master has finally found the woman he loves. This time, I brought her back to see my father and prepare to marry her and start a family."
Boom!
A thunderbolt exploded in Pang Wan's heart, shaking her internal organs violently in all four directions.
"Is it... is it the woman you met outside of church?"
Her face was pale, and her words began to become somewhat incoherent.
“She is my savior.” Nan Yi nodded. “Three months ago, I was being chased by the Kunlun Sect and fell off a cliff. She found me at the foot of the mountain and took meticulous care of me. She was even bitten by a poisonous snake while gathering herbs…” At this point, Nan Yi took a deep breath. “After spending three months with her, I finally understand what my mother meant by ‘one love for one lifetime’—Awu is the partner I’ve been searching for all my life.”
On the boy's handsome face, which usually only showed cruelty, tenderness and affection appeared, just like the moment when everyone's heart first turns to love.
Nan Yi was still rambling on about how he met A Wu, but Pang Wan was no longer listening to anything he said.
In her hazy mind, only Nan Yi's words echoed: "Awu, she is the companion I have been searching for all my life."
A lifetime, a lifetime, a good companion, a good companion, a good companion...
Having lived in this unfamiliar place for seven years, and with the Southern Barbarians for six, Pang Wan had endured their constant bullying and abuse. Although the two young men hadn't developed any passionate feelings for each other, deep down, Pang Wan always saw the Southern Barbarian as the male lead! (So handsome, highly skilled in martial arts, and incredibly charismatic and arrogant—even his name is "Male Lead"! If he's not the male lead, then who is?)
But this male protagonist actually tells her that he has fished a new wife out of a cliff right at the beginning of the story?
—Does this mean that I'm not actually the female lead, but just a supporting female character?
—Does this mean my ultimate fate is to be killed by the female lead, A Wu, or to quietly disappear and rot in some unknown corner?
The more she thought about it, the more frightened she became; the more frightened she became, the more she thought about it. The sudden news had a tremendous impact on Pang Wan. She was shocked and stood frozen in place, like a toy with its screws removed, her eyes vacant and her expression blank.
Nan Yi noticed that something was wrong with Pang Wan and punched him on the shoulder.
This punch was not serious; two clear streams slid from Pang Wan's eye sockets, rolling down his cheeks and into his clothes.
"...Wanwan?" The Southern Barbarians were somewhat startled.
He had imagined being mocked by Pang Wan, even thinking that she would bring up his absurd childhood vow to become a woman, but he never expected that Pang Wan would respond with two lines of clear tears.
He wasn't afraid of Pang Wan crying; when they were little, he loved watching Pang Wan get into all sorts of trouble and then burst into tears. But today, this little girl's tears made him feel like something was different.
What exactly is different? He couldn't quite put his finger on it.
Pang Wan finally came to her senses. She looked at the Nan Yi who was frowning and glaring at her. A thousand thoughts had already flown through her mind, like the changing of the world.
"Brother Nanyi, I... wish you happiness."
Wiping away her tears, she put her arm around Nan Yi's shoulder and sighed.
The Southern Barbarians always hated it when others were near them, but seeing Pang Wan looking so terrified, they didn't push him away for some reason.
“Brother Nanyi has just returned to the church, and he must be very busy. Wanwan will visit your future sister-in-law another day.” Pang Wan gave him a smile that was more like a grimace. “I’ll go and discuss some things with Lu Wei first.”
"Did you come here specifically to bring fruit to Lu Wei?" Nan Yi glanced at the bamboo basket in her hand.
"When you need something from someone, you should naturally cater to their preferences."
Pang Wan waved to him, turned around and continued walking towards Xiao Nanlou, but her posture was slightly unsteady and staggering, losing the graceful beauty she had shown before.
Nan Yi watched her departing figure, his eyes narrowing in confusion.
Chapter Two
Mei Wu Girl
News of the young master Nan Yi bringing his new bride to the cult's door quickly spread throughout the various halls. The cult members, still harboring romantic dreams, wept bitterly, their tears flowing like a river. Amidst the shattered cries of sorrow, only the cooks in charge of the rations were elated. They said that for the next few days, the cult wouldn't need to add salt to their noodles or add any sour sauce to their dumplings—it was incredibly economical.
"Those who have abandoned me, the days of yesterday cannot be retained; those who trouble my heart, the days of today are full of worries..."
Pang Wan started humming the song again.
The female protagonists produced in the Mary Sue continent are usually all-rounders, and they can easily master poetry and songs.
"The Holy Maiden's feelings for the young master are so deep!"
