Eine eisige Aura - Kapitel 52
The driver, an honest man, quickly reached out to help her, saying he would take her to the clinic. Pang Wan looked closely and saw a pale-faced pregnant woman lying in the carriage, groaning in pain. Next to her, an old woman urged anxiously, "Quick! Get in! My daughter-in-law is about to give birth!"
Pang Wan immediately understood where the driver's recklessness came from, so he waved his hand at him and said, "It's nothing, you can go ahead! Anyway, the doctor you're going to see probably can't help me."
The driver thanked her profusely and offered to inform her family before leaving. Pang Wan couldn't refuse, so she took off her waist tag and said, "Please take this to Yanbo Manor."
Upon hearing the name Yanbo Village, the driver dared not delay and quickly hopped into the carriage and sped off.
Pang Wan sat by the roadside, cold and hungry, waiting for a long time, so long that she almost thought no one would appear.
As the sun gradually set, a figure suddenly appeared on the horizon bathed in the afterglow. Golden light illuminated his sharply defined face, making him seem almost unreal, like a god.
"Wanwan!" The man reached out and pulled her into his arms tightly, as if he had found a lost treasure.
"Are you alright?" He put his arm around her shoulders, his voice hoarse and trembling with the shock of someone who had survived a close call. "Someone said you were hit by a carriage, and I rushed here as soon as I got the news..."
Pang Wan smelled the familiar and comforting masculine scent, and her nose gradually felt sore.
—Sure enough, this person is still the one who treats her well.
"Were you frightened?" Seeing that the person in his arms hadn't spoken for a long time, Gu Xiju quickly pushed her away and carefully checked her over. "Tell me where you're hurt?"
Seeing how worried he was about her, Pang Wan felt a sweet warmth in her heart and couldn't help but smile: "I just twisted my ankle."
Gu Xiju visibly breathed a sigh of relief, then frowned again.
"Is it serious?" He squatted down to examine her injuries, his lips pressed tightly together. "It seems she can't walk. Luckily, I called a carriage to come with her." As he spoke, he stood up and looked back, presumably waiting for the carriage to arrive.
Throughout the entire ordeal, his warm, large hand never left Pang Wan's side. Suddenly, Pang Wan had a bright idea and boldly asked, "Alliance Leader, could you carry me home?"
"Granny Jin said that if a man truly loves a woman, he will cherish her like a treasure. I wonder if someone of Gu Xiju's noble status would grant her wishful thinking?"
Gu Xiju turned his head and met her clever and charming eyes, and was slightly taken aback.
"I'm hungry, I want to go home for dinner as soon as possible," Pang Wan tugged at his sleeve, muttering pitifully.
As if sensing something was wrong, her stomach rumbled twice at that moment.
Gu Xiju slightly curled the corners of his mouth.
"Okay." He replied crisply and actually bent down towards her.
The sun had not yet completely sunk below the horizon when Gu Xiju took her arm and walked forward step by step.
His back was broad and his muscles were very strong. Pang Wan pressed her whole body tightly against him, with only a thin layer of clothing between them. She could feel his warm breath and even hear his steady heartbeat.
A tingling, indescribable feeling quietly spread through her chest.
"Hurry up, I'm starving." She pressed her face against Gu Xiju's back, a blush rising on her cheeks.
Gu Xiju froze for a moment, then suddenly unleashed his full power, using his lightness skill to leap through the mountains and forests.
"Wow! We're flying! We're flying!" Pang Wan had never experienced such speed before, and she screamed with excitement and exhilaration. Gu Xiju seemed encouraged by her words and quickened her pace. The scenery on both sides began to recede like a tide, and the breeze whistled past her ears.
The flowing black hair could not hold back the wavy ribbon; the swift wind carried it away.
"Slow down, slow down!" Pang Wan shouted anxiously, reaching out to pound Gu Xiju's chest.
Gu Xiju quickly slowed his pace and landed steadily on the ground with her.
"Are you tired?" he asked her with concern, his breathing slightly disordered.
Pang Wan blushed again. She thought to herself, "This fool! He's running around behind people's backs and then asking them if they're tired. How can he be so stupid!"
"Slow down! I need to tie my hair!" she said coyly, her tone carrying a hint of imperiousness.
Gu Xiju hummed in agreement, said nothing, and continued to carry her steadily on his back.
Pang Wan combed her hair with her fingers and suddenly burst out laughing.
“Look at you, don’t you look like a wild bull being ridden on by me?” She pointed to the two dark figures huddled together on the ground, one big and one small, which from a distance really did look a bit like a water buffalo carrying a shepherd boy.
Given their current status and age, anyone who heard these words would condemn Pang Wan for being rebellious and disrespectful. However, Gu Xiju looked in the direction she was pointing and simply smiled gently.
"It doesn't look like a cow, it looks more like a horse," he replied earnestly.
Even without seeing his face, Pang Wan could guess the doting expression on his face. So she pouted, kicked her leg, and, taking advantage of the situation, shouted in a mocking tone, "Giddy up!"
Without saying a word, Gu Xiju strode forward, his steps swift and his clothes fluttering in the wind.
"Run faster! Run faster!" Pang Wan laughed heartily, screaming as she hugged Gu Xiju even tighter. "Giddy up! Giddy up!"
Gu Xiju ran faster and faster, her wavy hair now all loose and flying freely in the warm breeze. Her silvery laughter pierced the valley, bringing a refreshing coolness to the summer day.
"I found it! I found it!" Her heart was pounding with joy.
"Granny Jin, this person is willing to do anything for me!" She secretly screamed in her heart, feeling extremely happy.

Back at the manor, Gu Xiju personally applied medicine to Pang Wan and then carried her to her room to rest. In a short while, many handkerchiefs in the manor were torn into noodles amidst resentful stares.
"Rest well and don't run around."
Gu Xiju wrung out a hot handkerchief and gently wiped the dust and sweat from her forehead.
"Big, stupid, horse!" Pang Wan lay limply on the bed, suddenly mouthing something to Gu Xiju, her eyebrows dancing with smugness, as if mocking his earlier absurdity.
Gu Xiju glared at her, pinched the tip of her nose, and threatened her in a serious manner: "If you dare to go around telling everyone about what happened today, I'll rip off your fox tail."
